Butterfly Cake

This is the video I used for my cake, I'll post pictures of my actaul cake after the party!

How to make a butterfly cake

Butterfly Goodie Bags, Games, Crafts

Arrival

As each guest arrives they will be given their own set of wings to decorate and wear through out the party. Have flowing music playing so they can butterfly dance after they decorate their wings if still waiting on guests.

~to make the wings I free handed one half of the wings on to poster board then traced for enough wings to have a pair for each guest. Then I hot glued them together with ribbon over the seam and hot glued ribbon to the top of the wing and then at the middle of the wing section on each side. They held up really well, just tossed my last one last week (over 1 month since the party!)

Game 'Musical Flowers'

~I found coloring book outlines of flower heads and colored each a different color about 4in x 4in in size. Then had a smaller flower or paper in each coordinating color. Everyone stands on a flower until the music stops. When the music stops then a color is drawn the guest with that color pics up their flower and is 'out' of the game, and they get to pick the next color. Keep going till the last person (as each person gets 'out' they get to pick the next color), they win the small prize!

Craft

~I poured my own plaster of Paris figurines-butterflies, frogs, and bugs. The kids have some in each of their goodie bags. They will get to paint them with water colors.

(option-could turn into magnets, but mine were to heavy.)

Goodie Bags

~Medium Sized Chinese Take Out Containers from a craft store (I watched for some to go on clearance to help with the cost!)

~Paper Butterfly Ornaments from a craft store (could cut out own) for tags

Inside

~Small Butterfly Coloring Page (all coloring pages found by using a search engine and typing in 'subject' coloring pages.)

~Butterfly Clips

~Foam Bug Capsules (expand when in warm water)

~Fun sized skittles

~Butterfly and birthday Stickers

~Flower erasers

~Plaster Pieces for craft project

Mystery Machine/Scooby Doo Party

A cousin of mine recently did this party for her daughters 6th birthday.
For instructinos on how to make this a pinata at home visit fun4kids.blogspot.com

To start with have someone slyly take the presents while kids are busy doing a starter activity and leave first clue where the presents bin was. We had the kids doing bubble wands. Then say we have so many games to play that we are just going to start by opening presents first. Help kids discover that the presents are gone and find their first clue.

Clue #1: The presents are gone but don't be blue You can have them back by following each clue. I'm The Birthday Phantom and I'll give the gifts back, After you've feed Shaggy and Scooby a little snack.(played a toss game where they threw real scooby snacks into a cardboard cut-outs of Scooby and Shaggy with their mouths open. Once everyone had a turn the next clue was hidden on the back of the game board)

Clue #2:Wow! You did great, take it from me You'll get your next clue when you help Velma see.(played pin the glasses on Velma. Next clue was hidden behind the Velma poster)

Clue #3:To get your next clue and avoid a curse, Help Daphne find the things in her purse(Put a bunch of objects that Daphne would use in a purse and kids had to feel with there hands, without looking in the bag, for a specific object. The next clue was behind the Daphne poster.)

Clue #4:Fred's traps are always so cool and so neat You'll get your next clue when you stomp ghosts with your feet.(Tied white balloons, with ghosts faces drawn on them, to each kid's ankle and they had to stomp their own balloon with their other foot. The next clue was rolled up and put inside one of the balloons so that it was found when someone stomped it.)

Clue #5:Sit down, relax, and take a break You find your next clue after you taste some cake.(Sang Happy Birthday and ate cake and ice cream. The next clue was hidden under the cake in a little ziplock bag so that when we cut the cake the kids would see it.)

Clue #6:You have played many games it's been fun. However there is still one.Can the Birthday girl guess? When the candy drops, it's a mess!(Did the Pinata and the last clue was hidden in the pinata)

Clue #7:With so many friends to help you out You'll solve this mystery with out a doubt.Go to the place where you wash with shampoo and there you'll find your presents in view.(presents found in the bathtub and then we opened presents.)

Butterfly Party--Invitations

Here are some butterfly invites for a 4 yr old Butterfly birthday party.
I am currently working on the party so games, food, and goodie bags to come!

Instructions
1-found butterfly pattern I liked online enlarged to 5 in
and printed onto white card stock; cut out
2-traced onto printed paper/card stock and cut out
3-glued butterfly to a 4x4 piece of coordinating card stock
4-traced body of template butterfly and traced onto brown paper,
cut out and glued to main butterfly
5-glued invite info on back of papers
6-using a straight edge; folded the butterfly wings back and put dimensional adhesive underneath to give more depth to butterfly wings.
7-Hot glued piper cleaners onto heads of butterfly for antennae.
I used 1/2 of a regular length pipe cleaner and twirled around my finger.
The back of the invite said

The butterflies will be captured at 10:00 am
and released at 11:30 am.
Our cocoon is located at
**address**
